Rules & regulations for students
1. Uniform
Students are expected to wear the complete set of the Centre’s uniform and shoes for training at all times. The uniforms and shoes should be clean and neat.
2. General conduct
i. Students should not perform the skills learnt from the Centre in public settings, either alone or in a group, without permission from the Centre.
ii. Students should not represent any other organizations/ clubs in performing the skills learnt from the Centre, without permission from the Centre.
iii. Student should not coach or teach the skills learnt from the Centre to anyone other than fellow students of the Centre, without permission from the Centre. Any coaching or teaching of fellow students must be done at the Centre.
iv. Students should always remain in their cohort. Skipping of cohort is strictly prohibited.
v. Students should not represent/ participant in interview/ speak on behalf of the Centre, without permission from the Centre.
vi. Students should refrain from talking loudly or indulging in noisy activities that may disrupt the class, or participate in any other form of conduct that is deemed inappropriate by the instructor/ staff.
vii. Mobile phones should be turned off or put into silent mode before the class commences. Should it be necessary to answer a call, the call must be taken outside the training area.
viii. Students are expected to respect other students, and be mindful of personal conduct so as not to offend the others.
ix. Students are expected to obey the instructions of the instructor/ staff. Instructors/ staffs reserve the rights to ask the non-complying students to leave the training area.
x. Students are expected to carry themselves with decorum and decency at all times.
xi. The objective of the Centre is to promote traditional Taoist health cultivation techniques. Students should not engage in any form of trading or business activities within the Centre, without permission from the Centre. The Centre reserves the right to take legal and disciplinary actions against anyone found engaged in such activities.
xii. Students should check in for training sessions in neat Taiji uniform. Students are not allowed to mark the attendance on behalf of others.
3. Discipline/ Termination/ Expulsion
The Centre may at its absolute discretion terminate the membership or expel any student found committing the following acts:
i. Vandalism;
ii. Willful damage of property belonging to the Centre/ Temple, and/ or other students or guests;
iii. Fighting
iv. Intimidation
v. Assault and/or all forms of threatening behavior;
vi. Insulting, disorderly and/or boisterous behavior;
vii. Use of abusive or obscene language;
viii. Rude and/or abusive conduct towards any member and/or employees/ volunteers of the temple;
ix. Smoking in designated non-smoking areas;
x. Any criminal act;
xi. Breach of any rules and regulations stated herein;
xii. Any conduct which in any way is injurious or prejudicial to the interest of the Centre/ Temple or its members.
4. Punctuality
Students should make all efforts to arrive for class on time. Latecomers should seek permission of the instructor/ staff before joining the class. Students who are consistently absent or late for class without permission may have his/ her membership terminated.
5. Membership card
Students are required display on his/ her uniform his/her membership card during class. Instructor/ staff reserves the right to check a student’s membership card. Students who fail to display or show the membership card when requested by the instructor/ staff may be asked to leave the training area, or have his/ her membership cancelled.
6. Membership fees
Students are allowed to join a class only if fees are fully paid. Fees paid are non-refundable.
7. Obedience
Students are expected to follow the instructor’s instructions, so that training can be conducted in an orderly and proper manner.
8. Personal properties
The Centre shall not be responsible for any lost or stolen property.
9. Photography/ Videography
Photography/ videography is prohibited without permission from the instructor/ staff.
10. Personal health
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that he/ she is in good health to participate in any training or activity at the Centre. Should a student feel unwell, dizzy, or experience pain or any other form of discomfort/ illness, he/ she should stop training and inform the instructor/ staff immediately.
11. Membership eligibility
i. Membership eligibility is at the sole discretion of the Centre and the Centre reserves the right not to accept any person as a member without stating any reason for the non-acceptance;
ii. The Centre reserves the right to amend these rules and regulations at any time as it deems fit.
